A ways back I sent in this suggestion to the GMs, I figure I'll toss it here for discussion's sake.
...
Hello GMs, while I am aware that kRO are the ones doing all the doings, I figured I`d send this in and hope it finds it`s way to someone who could make this change.
Sages, as it is, have no reason to be played other then to make a Professor (I personally prefer Professor to Scholar) or as a support unit in War of Emperium. Outside of War of Emperium, they have little practical application and basically anything they can do, a Wizard can do better since Wizards are all about dealing absurd damage over a large area. So given that Sages are basically "Support Mages" with the exception of Hindsight Sages, whom are also outshone by various other classes, there`s no reason to make a Sage for some good ol` monster bashing. Wizards also have Quagmire and Ice Wall to allow then more protection, while Sages are basically stuck with Fire Wall and Safety Wall, both of which have fairly limited use.
One observation I have made, is that Mage classes are critically vulnerable to ranged, physical attacks, henceforth known as projectiles. Projectiles are typically fast and are pretty much the bane of Mage Classes, since they are physical, which Mage classes have negligible protection for and simply lack the heartiness to withstand more then a few hits of abuse.
While I was thinking about this, I considered "What if we gave Sages Pneuma?" Realistically, it could work. Pneuma takes 1 Ruwach, 2 Teleport and 4 Warp Portal, all skills arguably related to time and space. In appearance, Pneuma appears as a gaseous formation, alluding to that it diverts the winds in the are in such a way that anything at the mercy of the wind will pretty much miss it`s mark, due to spatial distortion.
So suppose the Sage in Question were to max Whirlwind, which only present effect is to lengthen the duration of Fire Walls, increase the Agi of anything Wind Property a minor amount within it and aid in unlocking Magnetic Earth. The Sage would then theoretically have a mastery over wind and would be able to alter the spatial areas to create divergent winds. Since Sages are pretty much the "Anti-Skill" class, with Spell Breaker to halt anything with a charge bar and Magnetic Earth to prevent anything that strikes with an Area of Effect, in addition to Dispell which cancels Power-Ups, Pneuma would likely fit right at home with the rest of the Anti-Skills.
Now one might argue "This will makes Aco Classes less useful!" In my experience, I know of very few Priests and Monks who get Pneuma and then proceed to continue using it. Most of them simply cast Heal instead of Pneuma. Also, Priests have SP Recovery and Safety Wall from Mages, so why not let Sages take a skill from Acolytes?
If a Sage had Pneuma, it would increase their versatility as an Anti-Skill class, encourage the use of Sages as they`d have more places to go and be capable of more things to do and it wouldn`t step into the grounds of Wizard`s Area of Effect dominance.
Thank you for reading this lengthy text and thank you for any consideration you might have for my suggestion.

Rawr!
I AGREE~!
i have a sage, and projectiles tend to mess meh up, bad, if i may add, pneuma would be a plus to the Sage's/Scholar's spell list....though i wish sages had a wider range of offensive spells. And i dont want to make a wiz because i like freecast too much

Sages are actually quite dangerous when built right and in the right hands. They really don't need any additional skills as if they did have something like Pneuma, they become slightly unbalanced.
If anything... SC is a Sages best friend in any situation. Hell... just wearing a SC armor makes him more dangerous.
Now if you get to Scholar (Professor)... OMGWTF you are even more deadlier! We have a level 79 Scholar in our guild and he destroys people in PvP. Can you say Soul Syphon? Or maybe Fiberlock? Heck... Double Bolt is a nice skill too. Then there's Blinding Mist... and I forgot the name of that one skill that reduces your next 5 casts in half!

T'would be Foresight.
Bear in mind, this is speaking from the perspective of someone who soloes without any fancy gears due to being poor and/or unlucky. I've had my Sage for about 8 months and I didn't get a Vitata Clip until last month.

I completely agree with a lot of that, and this applies to a lot of other class's. Many are crappy in pvm while others excel in both PvM and woe such as monks and knights. Stalkers/rogues are almost shunned to be soloing for their whole lives.

Actually... Stalkers and Rogues would have still been dangerous in PvP if it wasn't for the simple fact that they disabled Snatch in there...
Meanwhile... SD SinX is fairly overpowered in PvP... especially when they go EDP...

Profs > Wizard in PvP. Seriously. And I think Profs have a skill that reduces ranged attack damage and more chance of the attack missing.
