Then you should probably respect the fact that he is keeping a promise (in the case of the secret), or you should try to win (back?) his trust (in the case of the trust issue)…

As far as yer friend's stubborness, it depends on what the heck you're trying to pry out of that person. Some things just can't be shared unless they want it to be shared. Don't push or you'll have yerself an enemy than a friend...
