I'd agree with kalajel but on a less profane level.
If you think that the person you are talking about is the one you really want, the one you'd love to spend the rest of your life with, then why listen to other people?
If its your parents preventing you, try to get them to understand how much that person means.
If its the other persons parents, try talking to them, but don't be pushy or it'll be worse.

When I was younger there was this friend my parents didn't want me hanging out with because he was a bad influence. I pretended to listen to them and hung out with him nonetheless behind my parent's back. Enventually, I just stopped hanging out with him; life is like that, you go through phases.
Was he a bad influence on me? Yeah!
Did I got into troubles? Yeah!
Did I regret not doing what my parents told me? No!
Yes I made mistakes and got into trouble, but these are part of my life experience and they define the person I am today.
