April 25, 2006! Today!
Advent Children was released! I was one of the first to pick it up at my local wal-mart, it was packaged along with Final Fantasy : The Spirits Within (bleh) but for $20 it was a decent deal. There were a few other people there to pick it up as well, so I was glad that I waited it out despite my companion\'s complaining that she was tired. Hehe.
Anyway, go get the US Version! Havn\'t watched it yet [as it\'s almost 1am and I have class in 7 hours], but I\'ll make sure to fill in the details as far as the english voice acting and what-not.

I was a bad boy and watched the subbed version before it hit the US. I hope the dubbing isn\'t bad... I thought the JP version was absolutely wonderful, minus Cloud\'s delivery service which was pretty dumb. ~.~
I watched the subbed version too, but I still want the US version just so I can have a copy. I think in the US version they included JP
Incase your not into the english dubbing.
Incase your not into the english dubbing.Whoops! I guess I didn\'t scroll down far enough \'cause I didn\'t realize this post was here. ^^; I started a thread in \'Anime.\'
*smal opinionated spoil ahead*
Anyhoo, I cheated too and borrowed a friend\'s subbed copy. I thought it was pretty good, but the plot, to me, was kinda weak. I also got sick of Cloud\'s \'oh, woe is me. i let Aerith die and i suck and boo hoo...\' routine. Plus, it could of had a few more summon critters and materia use in it (Bahamut looked so cool).
BTW, Vincent rocked! But no monster transformation! /sob

I wouldn\'t want to live in a world w/o dragons, as I wouldn\'t want to live in a world w/o magic, for that\'s a world w/o mystery, and that\'s a world w/o faith.

I\'m sure almost every FF fan pretty much watched the subbed version... so no surprise there.
I\'m still gonna get the DVD, though... /no1

I have an original copy of FF7: AC in DVD format
. It is pure leet. Cloud and Sephiroth are hot. Its perfect. Period.
I\\\'ve watched it like.. 20 times. Literally. I love the game, I\\\'m in love with the movie.
Also,
Japanese version will always > American version
American voices are gay, pronounce words wrong, and pronounce names wrong. That is proven in all possible American version Animes.
But then again, that\'s just an opinion I share among my barkada or group.

Kinju said:its not pronounced wrong if the grammar is different etc, and it depends which version you hear first fiducia, for example, I cant stand the japanease voices for inu-yasha and the english ones sound much better to me in my memory, same with video games that have japanease voices. I mean, half the time im reading and not really paying attention to the japanease voices.

It\'s also personal preference. Some of us folks like to hear the original Japanese voices and someof us like hearing american words coming out of their mouths. I do prefer the Japanese voices over American, but there are a few dubbed anime that have very good voice actors in them (ie. Inu-Yasha).
As for pronounciation and stuff goes, its like what Neo said. You think it\'s wrong or right depending on what you hear first and/or get used to.
But for the most part, english dubs do butcher certain words...

English dubs I don\'t think work that well in general. I\'m usually more pleased with the results of subbing vs. dubbing. I wonder how the Japanese feel about when they watch American cartoons if they feel the same way.
I think you gain a better understanding of some subplots by including the cultural aspect. In the case of Nakama in One Piece, nakama means lots of things when translated, so for that reason you cannot translate it, it would lose some meanings by doing so.

Watched Subbed also, hate the dubbed, since most of the times the women lose they\'re quite high-pitched, cute girly voice and is replaced by what sound like a boy in his pre-teens X_X
Hey I never knew Inu\'s dubbed version was good, then again I only watch the subbed version of every anime I watch(I turn away and close my ears when it\'s dubbed)..

Uhh, I watched it. It\\\'s really good. I enjoyed the english voices. I can\\\'t stand watching anything in Japanese, I hate having to read my movies. It\\\'s just a personal vendetta. Why read something that is meant to be watched? Seems silly to me. I tried to watch it in japanese with subbed but couldn\\\'t stand it. Heh. It\\\'s all personal preference, so saying that Japanese is always better than English is just ignorant. But then again that\'s just a personal preference of Ficucia, so whatever. >.<
As far as Anadorn with his comment, girls don\\\'t sound like boys, I\\\'m sorry. I thought Marlene\\\'s voice was very well cute enough for me.

Yeah its true Runagi. Personal preference =P. But really, I\'m the type of person who can watch while reading cause I can sort of take in both at the same time. I dunno how but
. I like it =P I get to hear the original voices and STILL understand what the hell is going on in the movie. Like in the Passion Of The Christ.

Kinju said:It\'s kinda funny how Ruru hates watching subbed yet she\'s Japanese...
I only watched dubbed anime when it\'s done by certain folks like Viz or Pioneer. The rest is pretty questionable.

Like Fiducia, I have the keen ability to watch, listen and read at the same time, a subbed anime... So yeah... Ia might be right with some good dubbers, though sadly never heard one >.<

Well sure yeah they were smart enough to find a little girl dubber, what I meant was those anime girls with the age range of 15-20+, i mean I listen to the subbed it\'s the usual cute voice, the dubbed in the other hand, they get those preteen boy thing or the feminine deep, \"manly\" voice, or they sound too mature like they\'re voices went ahead to their 40\'s >.< Marlene\'s voice is cute? of course it is... she\'s a little girl!!
