With the database pretty much majorly outdated and member activity dissipating, I think it's safe to say the this site needs a major overhaul.
Ragnarok has been around for a while now, yet Gravity (at least in Korea) is still supporting it. Doddler has posted news he got from the Gravity event forecasting news about Episode 13, revamping of PvP and WoE and introduction of the 3rd classes.
Doddler News
So I guess the question is, will ROHQ still be there? If so, we really need to get things squared away here.
I for one don't have that much knowledge on Java and stuff, so I can't really help much with site updates, but I can help with other things.
This is your call Fuse...

Well, I'm quite idle lately, and as much as I want to help, I don't really think I can actually help. But I want to.

Sad to say, only a few people are playing ragnarok here in the Philippines. Most of the people here usually play other online games or private servers.

I just found it funny that when I checked the latest threads this morning, there were about 10 threads listed. Now its 4 or less

Clubs, friends, school, work, homework, and video games take up 100% of my time usually. I usually have to make time to come on the computer to browse the internets. And making the time coming here to look at threads that are non-existant/something I've already read couple days ago gets tiresome.

This is unfortunate. I've only been around for a short while and things are pretty dull here.
Although, I'd like to contribute to the forums, but I'd have nothing to say about RO. I basically have done what I've wanted to with the game. I'm not HUGE on pvp so, the fun there is instantly gone for me. I got my lvl 99 character(s) and what-not; and all the people that DID play with me are now pursuing other endeavours.
I've been reading other/older threads and some of the comments are intelligent and funny (regarding a wide variety of issues), so everyone here seems like a bunch of nice people.
RO brought you here, but is it the only thing binding everyone together?
*Apologizes for the essay*

That's not an essay. This is:
I was outraged and ashamed after hearing about some of people who no longer support RO's latest perversions. Without going into all the gory details, let's just say that we must get my message about people who no longer support RO out to the world. Those who claim otherwise do so only to justify their own empty-headed slurs. Call me old-fashioned, but people who no longer support RO says that it needs a little more time to clean up its act. As far as I'm concerned, people who no longer support RO's time has run out. People who no longer support RO sees no reason why it shouldn't let us know exactly what our attitudes should be towards various types of people and behavior. It is only through an enlightened, outraged citizenry that such moral turpitude, corruption, and degradation of the law can be brought to a halt. So, let me enlighten and outrage you by stating that if people who no longer support RO continues to blame those who have no power to change the current direction of events, I will be obliged to do something about it. And you know me: I never neglect my obligations.
People who no longer support RO wants to get me thrown in jail. It can't cite a specific statute that I've violated, but it does believe that there must be some statute. This tells me that if people who no longer support RO can't be reasoned out of its prejudices, it must be laughed out of them. If people who no longer support RO can't be argued out of its selfishness, it must be shamed out of it. Why does people who no longer support RO want to pollute the great canon of English literature with references to its unctuous endeavors? Because its ravings are mired in headlong Jacobinism. That's not the only reason, of course, but I'll get to the other reasons later.
I'm inclined to think that if people who no longer support RO wanted to, it could convert houses of worship into houses of despotism. It could increase society's cycle of hostility and violence. And it could doctor evidence and classification systems and make worthless generalizations to support jackbooted, preconceived views. We must not allow people who no longer support RO to do any of these. To put a little finer edge on the concept, people who no longer support RO hates you -- yes, you, because you, like me, want to institute change.
Admittedly, this is no time to be ignominious and no time to be improvident. But that's because people who no longer support RO does not tolerate any view that differs from its own. Rather, it discredits and discards those people who contradict it along with the ideas that they represent. Since I have promised to be candid, I will tell you candidly that I want to improve the lot of humankind. But first, let me pose an abstract question. What is this effete fascination people who no longer support RO has with blackguardism? Please do not stop reading here, presuming that the answer is apparent and that no further knowledge is needed. Such is surely not the case. In fact, I'd bet no one ever told you that I like to face facts. I like to look reality right in the eye and not pretend it's something else. And the reality of our present situation is this: We must call your attention to the problem of obstreperous finks. This call to action begins with you. You must be the first to place a high value on honor and self-respect. You must be the one to bring strength to our families, power to our nation, and health to our cities. And you must inform your fellow man that people who no longer support RO never stops boasting about its generous contributions to charitable causes. As far as I can tell, however, its claimed magnanimousness is totally chimerical and, furthermore, people who no longer support RO says it's going to move increasingly towards the establishment of a totalitarian Earth within a short period of time. Good old people who no longer support RO. It just loves to open its mouth and let all kinds of things come out without listening to how conceited they sound. This is not the same as saying that confused, inconsiderate reavers are intrigued and puzzled by people who no longer support RO's amalgam of clueless metagrobolism and illogical credentialism -- a tangled web of KKK, Freudian, encounter-therapy, populist, Ayn Rand-like, and Marxist notions -- although that, too, is true. People who no longer support RO has an uncanny ability to entirely miss the point of any given issue. Yet the media consistently ignores, downplays, or marginalizes this fact.
I plan to make this world a kinder, gentler place. Are you with me -- or against me? Whatever you decide, people who no longer support RO is trying to brainwash us. It wants us to believe that it's phlegmatic to provide an antidote to contemporary manifestations of presumptuous solipsism; that's boring; that's not cool. You know what I think of that, don't you? I think that people who no longer support RO is planning to caricature and stereotype people from other cultures. This does not bode well for the future, because I am aware that many people may object to the severity of my language. But is there no cause for severity? Naturally, I maintain that there is, because I can't follow its pretzel logic. I do, however, know that you might say, "People who no longer support RO makes decisions based on random things glamorized by the press and the resulting rantings of rotten franions." Fine, I agree. But to get even the simplest message into the consciousness of snarky, cuckoo varmints, it has to be repeated at least 50 times. Now, I don't want to insult your intelligence by telling you the following 50 times, but I would like nothing more than to begin a course of careful, planned, and coordinated action. That concept can be extended, mutatis mutandis, to the way that it is not a responsible citizen. Responsible citizens identify, challenge, defy, disrupt, and, finally, destroy the institutions that deface a social fabric that was already deteriorating. Responsible citizens unequivocally do not legitimize the fear and hatred of the privileged for the oppressed. If people who no longer support RO thinks that an open party with unlimited access to alcohol can't possibly outgrow the host's ability to manage the crowd then maybe it should lay off the wacky tobaccy. Most people are loath to admit that people who no longer support RO's toadies remain a small isolated minority, except during times of economic or social stress, when a mass following develops to blame capricious fiends for the problems besetting society. Why? That's easy. People who no longer support RO's list of sins is long and each one deserves more space than I have here. Therefore, rather than describe each one individually, I'll summarize by stating that every time it tries, people who no longer support RO gets increasingly successful in its attempts to place vapid, illiterate fanatics at the top of the social hierarchy. This dangerous trend means not only death for free thought, but for imagination as well.
If people who no longer support RO can give us all a succinct and infallible argument proving that its debauches are the result of a high-minded urge to do sociological research, I will personally deliver its Nobel Prize for Lame-brained Rhetoric. In the meantime, people who no longer support RO's planning to exploit issues such as the global economic crisis and the increase in world terrorism in order to instigate planet-wide chaos. Planet-wide chaos is its gateway to global tyranny, which will in turn enable it to cheat on taxes. Whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to reverse the devolutionary course people who no longer support RO has set for us. I almost forgot: I'm not a postmodernist person. I'd like nothing more than to extend my hand in friendship to people who no longer support RO's vicegerents and convey my hope that in the days to come we can work together to show people who no longer support RO how it is as wrong as wrong can be. Unfortunately, knowing them, they'd rather put increased disruptive powers in the hands of disingenuous wisenheimers because that's what people who no longer support RO wants.
People who no longer support RO proclaims at every opportunity that it'd never scupper my initiative to ensure that the values for which we have labored and for which many of us have fought and sacrificed will continue in ascendancy. The organization doth protest too much, methinks. People who no longer support RO's cock-and-bull stories are not an abstract problem. They have very concrete, immediate, and unpleasant consequences. For instance, people who no longer support RO's spin doctors believe that there is something intellectually provocative in the tired rehashing of uneducated stereotypes. It should not be surprising that they believe this, however. As we all know, minds that have been so maimed that they believe that people who no longer support RO's claims can give us deeper insights into the nature of reality can believe anything, especially if it's false.
One wonders how people who no longer support RO can complain about subhuman hackers, given that its own announcements also aim to break the mind and spirit, castrate the character, and kill the career of anyone whose ideas it deems to be balmy. Because of people who no longer support RO's eagerness to participate in riots, snobbism has served as the justification for the butchering, torture, and enslavement of more people than any other "ism". That's why it's people who no longer support RO's favorite; it makes it easy for it to supplant one form of injustice with another. Here, too, we can see how if I want to develop a subconscious death wish, that should be my prerogative. I truly don't need people who no longer support RO forcing me to. What this underlines, I think, is that people who no longer support RO really struck a nerve with me when it said that it could do a gentler and fairer job of running the world than anyone else. That lie is a painful reminder that people who no longer support RO's quips are intended to get us all on board the ruffianism train. In fact, I have said that to people who no longer support RO on many occasions and I will keep on saying it until it stops trying to cause slaphappy subversion to gather momentum on college campuses.
People who no longer support RO treats serious issues callously and somewhat flippantly. Am I being unduly harsh for writing that? I think not. When the religious leaders in Jesus's time were wrong, Jesus denounced them in extremely harsh terms. So why shouldn't I, too, use extremely harsh terms to indicate that posterity will have little occasion to glorify people who no longer support RO's "heroic" existence in a new epic?
While we may all pray for a perfect utopian world in which everyone is holding hands and singing "We Are the World" in perfect harmony, the reality is that a colleague recently informed me that a bunch of noisome derelicts and others in people who no longer support RO's amen corner are about to prevent people from thinking and visualizing beyond an increasingly psychologically caged existence. I have no reason to doubt that story because I have a dream that my children will be able to live in a world filled with open spaces and beautiful wilderness -- not in a dark, condescending world run by otiose conspiracy theorists. There's one thing you can obviously say about people who no longer support RO: It has a sense of humor. It was being a real comedian when it told us that it is aberrant to question its perorations. For better or for worse, many people have witnessed people who no longer support RO advocate its recommendations amid a hue and cry as dim-witted as it is insane. People who no longer support RO generally insists that its witnesses are mistaken and blames its supercilious conjectures on brassbound, contentious wonks. It's like it has no-fault insurance against personal responsibility. What's more, people who no longer support RO always demands instant gratification. That's all that is of concern to it; nothing else matters -- except maybe to quote me out of context. I tell you this because people who no longer support RO coins polysyllabic neologisms to make its imprecations sound like they're actually important. In fact, its treatises are filled to the brim with words that have yet to appear in any accepted dictionary. You've never heard that people who no longer support RO's intention is to rob, steal, cheat, and murder? That's because its worshippers have been staging a massive cover-up for quite some time now. That tool is alarmism, and if you watch it wield it, you'll unmistakably see why when it hears anyone say that its anecdotes are a spiritual syphilis that has now reached the tertiary stage, paresis and insanity, its answer is to deny minorities a cultural voice. That's similar to taking a few drunken swings at a beehive: it just makes me want even more to provide you with a holistic and thematic history of its invidious reports while remaining true to those beliefs, ideals, and aspirations we hold most dear. Because people who no longer support RO is so caught up in trying to brand me as oppressive, I'd like to conclude this letter by quoting to it the last line of R. M. Rilke's poem, "Archaic Torso of Apollo": "You must change your life."

RO was released in alpha in November of 2001, open Beta in Feb of 2002.
Current year: 2007
Minus
Opening Year: 2002
Equals
5 years
That means this game is 5 years old, and it's following it dying. Most people have achieved what they wanted to from the game and have moved on.
I myself have not touched RO for 2 and a half years. But before that happened, aside from the equivalent of 6 months worth of breaks, I played constantly. So basically I've played RO for close to three years. I achieved my goal of level 99, played on regular RO servers, and private one's alike (I can say that since our fan site status is gone).
I loved RO, it really made me happy. It was the form of escape I needed during the time of chronic depression. I think about it from time to time. I have fond memories as a 16 year old playing this game. But now I'm 22 years old, and I have a girl friend. A life, with family, friends, work, school, and all that stuff. It sounds fun if I could go back to the beginning of where it started and experience it all again, but... then I wouldn't have all the really important stuff now, and I would be a child again, sitting in his parent's basement on the computer. Oh and did I mention it's boring...?

Lol... I NEVER liked RO. Lmao... I played it for like 2 weeks, played some private servers, and then quit entirely (other than once or twice w/ a free trial to bother Idyot and make him level my novice up). All I ever used it for when I played was a chat-program for friends on a forum I used to frequent before this one (which was shut-down some years ago.. QQ).
I'm not really sure why I stuck around on this site or eventually started to post, even..
All I have to say is that RO2 looks interesting, and that I definitely have an eye out on it.. but WoW has another expansion coming out (Wrath of the Lich King), so all I have to really say on RO2 is that it better be AMAZING, lol..
Anyways, it's 4am, holy mackerol.. insomnia for the lose. Going to go try to get some sleep again.

Well, the last few days I've been looking for some decent (free) mmo's.
I've come up with nil. I still have the RO client on my computer and I started it up again.
I thought I WAS done with this game. Turns out I decided to keep playing.
Aside from all the vets who are pretty much done with this game/community, I think I'll try and post on here let alone play the dang game alot more. If college wasn't about to start for me, I'd be all over RO again like before. I barely (don't) have any friends on the server I'm currently playing on, so it can be pretty boring at times. But I realized that RO cannot be beat in terms of what my computer can handle and fun factor.
I'm downloading Diablo 2 w/expansion as we speak, my install disk is scratched from years of carelessness, so hopefully I can figure out a equal amount of time for both.
Either way guys/gals, wether or not you play the game alot, nothing wrong with interacting with the community right?
