Today I checked my email. Five minutes later, I try to open it again cause I used password recovery. It works. Another five minutes cause my mom needed to check her email. It doesn't work. It says "mail.yahoo.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again."

Its been going on for the past few months but I could stand it. No more. I need to check my email. Getting important documents from relatives abroad. It doesn't let me into "roempire.com" or "multiply.com" for the same reason. I turn firewall off, it still doesn't work. I can call the company but they're just stupid morons as when they tried to fix this, ended up busting our internet for 2 weeks.

Basically:

ISP = Internet Service Provider, who do you get your internet through? Yahoo?
ADSL = Assymetrical Digital Subscriber Line (dynamic), means your modem needs to dial the ISP in order to have a connection.
SDSL = Symetrical Digital Subscriber Line (static), means your internet is always connected, the line never disconnects.

ADSL can become SDSL if you use a router. Refer to my crappy diagram:


You can tell if your router is wireless if it's got an "rabbit ears" (1 or 2 attenas), or if there isn't a wire going from your computer to the router or modem.

Since then, tended to play around with it... you know, experiment with what I could do with it. Computer class in school helped a bit as well but mostly it was my addiction to the computer o.o



uh I think I'm SDSL. Don't need to connect whenever I turn on the computer. I use both router and modem. and I don't think its wireless.

You're using DHCP - meaning everything is configured manually by the router, which is less reliable than static routing. Sometimes when you restart your computer does it help it work?

Correct me if im wrong.I think its on the router or in the modem coz when our router gets overheated or let me say gets hot(i dont know what the term is)..the net connection slows.

Anywyas back to the topic @ hand... it being your ISP or it being your network, there is about even opportunity of either. It all depends on who you get your internet through, some are more noctorious than others...
