I will be posting here as often as the updates come, so check back occasionally. Everything here will be based on what I see on G4's E3 Special Report and stuff I find on the net.

E3 for 2006 has finally kicked off and months and months of speculation and expectations are finally being met (or not... depending on your personal opinion). Here are some of the news that I have been able to pick up so far.

Nintendo Wii (Revolution) - We are finally going to see some games for the system and how the "nunchuk" controller works with the games. One of the games that will be feature is Super Mario Galaxies... which is basically Super Mario in space. Don't let the concept fool you as the gameplay coupled with the use of the controller should make this one a system seller.

PlayStation 3 - After waiting for so long... we finally have a price range. And OMGWTF the thing is indeeed pricey! A PS3 with a built-in 20gig HD will run you about $499 while a 60gig version will take a bite out of your wallet at a whopping $599. We also now have a release date of November 17th for this very much anticipated system. One more change is the controller. Gone is the funky-ass "batarang" shape and coming back is the traditionaly PS dual-analog controller. But hold on... there's something very different about it. It has a motion sensor very much like the one in the Wii. Shady, aren't we, Sony? The PS3 also will showcase a new Eyetoy peripheral, but more on that later. The biggest buzz in the PS3 camp though was the new MGS4 Trailer which was again, created with the actual in-game engine. Although not as pretty as the first trailer, it's definitely looks like a next-gen game currently not seen in any XBox 360 game (at least until I get to the 360). Other games will be featured and playable for the system, so I'll get into more of that next time.

XBox 360 - Two words... HALO 3... okay, so it's a word and a number, but need I really say more? The 360 has already a head start on the competition in the next-gen race, but it's not really getting ahead as much as I personally thought it would. Reason being is the lack of real next-gen games. But after seeing the Halo 3 trailer... one can say that the 360 will definitely give both Sony and Nintendo a run for their money (especially Sony, considering the PS3's wallet-busting price). There will also be a playable demo of ChromeHounds and (possibly) Gears of War, but more on that later.

PC - If you've played any of the Sims series of games... then you are one of the folks who will be salivating once you get your hands on Spore. Will Wright has again outdone himself with this possible you-will-forget-everyone-ever-existed-time-chomping game. The basic premise is that you can create your own worlds and populate them with creatures that you yourself create. The creature creator is so massive, you'll be having fun just by making your own little critter you can run around and play with. The online aspect of the game lets players "download" other players worlds to include whatever creatures they have created. The part of this is that whatever you to do their creatures or their worlds only takes effect in YOUR system, and not theirs, basically giving you total control without intefering with the other folks' games. More on this and other things PC when it comes around.

The PS3 will have to wait like 3 years for me to get so the price can go down a lot lol.

Nintendo - The more I see the Wii in action, the more my interest grows. I've never felt this interested in a system since the first time I laid eyes on the SNES. Right now, Nintendo already has a couple of games lined up for the Wii to include Super Mario Galaxies, Metroid Prime 3 and a new Zelda game (I need to verify if it's Twilight Princess). There will also be a series of Wii-specific titles that will take full advantage of the controller's capabilities. Sega will also be releasing a new Sonic game that will also utilize the controller. Sony - MGS4 has definitely wowed a lot of folks, but there are also a significant amount of games that are being showcased for the system to include Gran Turismo HD, Ridge Racer 5, Resistance: Fall of Man and a couple more games that I forgot the titles of...
Also, like the 360, the cheaper version of the PS3 will be missing a good amount of key features like WiFi for example. How this will affect gamin g in general will be something to be wary of in the future.

Microsoft - Halo 3 will definitely be a huge system seller regardless of how the game looks, but it always helps if the actual graphics shown in the trailer will be the same when the actual game comes out. A few other games are also featured for the system to include a very impressive demo of Gears of War. Other games coming out will include Fable 2 and Too Human. The 360 is poised to take a huge chunk of the gaming market... it just needs more 3rd party support to be truly successful.

PC - A plethera of games are also coming out for the PC... a lot of them seems to be shooters, though. Crysis is definitely one of the more impressive ones seen so far seeing as it's been created by the same folks who made Far Cry. There will also be a few more of them darn WWII games that just won't die. Lord British will also be releasing a new MMO to the masses... though with the success of WoW (which has a new patch coming), who knows how this one will fair.

Other news include a new GTA game slated for a 2007 release, Quake Wars and of course... Madden 07. Stay tuned for more. /no1
