The Omen
The Apocalypse has arrived.
This film was released on 06/06/06, an ingenious day for a remake of an older film about a devil child. The film looked to be promising. Previews and advertisements looked awesomely cool. I wasn't able to see the film on it's release, but who cares about that anyway? I seen it this weekend, and boy was it a let down.
The movie starts out really really good, Roman priests gather around a projector, with one priest pointing out facts that the apocalypse is coming. That all of the signs the bible states have happened. I have to say that I was seriously offended by some of the comparisons, but they did make sense so I'll give them credit. The movie was pretty good at spooking the viewer out and making them jump at unexpected scenes. However, scenes such as the Zoo really irritated me. While at the Zoo the boy says "they're scared." They're in a room with glass windows, and inside one is monkeys hissing & what-not at the little boy. Then the glass shatters from another window, and lo-and-behold a gorilla is charging the glass. Wtf? Why is this glass cracking? It's a zoo, and gorilla's get spooked & angered easily, why is this glass so easily broken?
But I digress... scenes like this did irritate me. The ending sucked and that's that.
I give The Omen a 4/10.
The Benchwarmers
More like a sequel to Revenge of the Nerds.
Ah... the Benchwarmers. With the actor Jon Heder from Napoleon Dynamite, it's sure to be a blockbuster hit! Wrong. Although many people did attend the movie out of hopes of it being great, it truely sucked. The movie is about 3 characters uniting to defeat the bully baseball teams. Now my question is why are adults such as David Spade and Ron Schneider aloud to play in teams of younger kids?
I'll admit there were really funny parts of the movie, just the story-line sucks and it's like a rip-off of Revenge of The Nerds.
I give The Benchwarmers a 6/10.
V for Vendetta
"Remember remember the 5th of November."
This movie was truely great in every aspect. From the creators of the Matrix Trilogy they have brought upon us a story about a vision of the future. In this future the government runs everyone's lives and controls them. The character only known as V, played by Hugo Weaving, appears after exploding a building, hidden behind an opera-type mask, his mask taunts the government and tells the citizens to not be afraid of the government, and that it should be affraid of them. The only part I disliked was the shaving of Natalie Portman's head. I love her hair.
But it did make the movie more interesting in a sense.
If you want to see a movie that is worth every dollar you spend to go see it, this should be the one.
I give V for Vendetta a 9/10. (-1 for having to say bye-bye to Natalie's hair.)

Lol you should bold the notice about the spoilers. I totally missed it and went straight to the movie rants xD. Ah well, wasn't planning to watch The Omen anyway.
Also, I totally agree on the V for Vendetta. That was truly an awesome movie.

A bit of a prologue... before my review...
Interesting story. I disagree with the church as finding this film controversial and an attack on their faith. The story does involve Christianity and it does involve artworks reverred by christians and non-christians alike, but I don't see a fictional story as an attack on Christianity.
If these people pointing fingers at Dan Brown had read the prequel to The Da Vinci Code, named Angels & Demons, they would understand further that Dan Brown is just writing a story. And he's damn good at it. Facts blur with fiction and that's where many people become lost, in a sense, and decide the book is attacking Christianity.
Dan Brown's other books, such as Deception Point clearly show that he isn't purely trying to attack Christianity. He's just trying to create an interesting story.
End prologue
The movie stars Tom Hanks as the lead character, Robert Langdon. Robert has been given the task of deciphering a "code" that lies within Leonardo Da Vinci's artworks. There are some interesting points placed throughout the movie. It stays true to the book for the most part.
I can't really say much more on the movie because I kind of spaced out during it. I just remember some parts were pretty slow.
I give The Da Vinci Code a 7/10

Johnny Knoxville stars in this gem. After a freak accident happens to his illegal immigrant friend, Johnny feels compelled to raise up the expensive bill tab, but he doesn't know how. That's when his uncle comes into the picture and tells Johnny they should rig the special olympics. The uncle has his own debts to pay, and magically the special olympics will award the amount of money needed for both the uncle and Johnny's injured friend.

If these people pointing fingers at Dan Brown had read the prequel to The Da Vinci Code, named Angels & Demons, they would understand further that Dan Brown is just writing a story. And he's damn good at it. Facts blur with fiction and that's where many people become lost, in a sense, and decide the book is attacking Christianity.
Dan Brown's other books, such as Deception Point clearly show that he isn't purely trying to attack Christianity. He's just trying to create an interesting story.

I've neither seen the movie nor read the book, but I guess a lot of folks said that the Da Vinci Code movie did stay true to the book, but the acting they said was very bland and almost emotionless (aside from Sir Ian, who got some very good praise). I'm not entitled to give my opinions on this one.
If you ask me... V for Vendetta would get an 8. As much as I thought the movie was one of the best I've seen this year... it's no where close to any movie I considered extremely good. And docking a score just because Natalie Portman got her head shaved? It's a one-shot-one-take kind of deal that was a real key scene in the movie, so if anything, it should add a point.

Tom Hanks never fit the part as Langdon. Unfortunately, his body build probably wouldn't fit since Langdon was once described as a "lean swimmer" or something of that sort. After all, he did 50(?) laps a day in their school pool. Also, he seemed to be just "following" Sophie through the movie. In the book, he

They did miss a lot of stuff like the first opening of the cryptex. They also added some, as well as not clearing up the matter of how Remy died. They just showed it without any explanation. "The Blood War Is On."
Okay let me start off by saying that I am a fan of Milla Jovovich. She plays the lead character, Violet. So this might be a bit of a biased opinion on the movie, but hey, it's my opinion and this is my rant. Muah hahaha. Anyway. The movie was very, very cool. The visuals were superb and the action was intense on some parts. If you enjoyed Aeon Flux the Movie, then consider that movie to be a kiddy version of Ultra Violet. This movie could be compared to Blade, I dare say. Although Blade was pretty damn awesome.. but I digress.
The story-line is that there are two species which are at war, humans and sub-humans (currently the name slipped my mind). There are really good battle scenese, and even the ending battle I was definitely happy with because it wasn't like, "oh look I win" or "oh look, a tie" or anything.
If you feel like renting a movie, I dare say go rent it. But I just bought it because, like I said I'm a Milla Jovovich fan..

Millia Jovovich I've always liked as an actor. She was good in RE and RE2: Apoc, but those are by no means her fine fine points as an actor. But I do dig any girl that can relate on any level to videogames! 
I heard a women was the lead so I thought it was going to be about cooking and laundry! oh ho ho ho. j/p
