Wow, its been a while since I've officially reviewed a game. And, ironically, its the second sequel to the worst purchasing choice I've ever made in my entire life...but the question is, do I regret this buying this as well...?

Graphics
7.5/10
I enjoy how they always add in some new design or something they feel was left out of the old design whenever they make Budokai sequels, but I thought the design in the 3rd game was completely perfect...you won't really notice it, but the characters seem a little bit shorter, which can be good or bad depending on your point of view...I also like the effect they did with Super Saiyan Hair...it gives this extra glow which is new and quite enjoyable...the stages are also beautifully done, but fighting should take place in the air...you don't want to see grass graphics that look like cardboard or trees that look like their out of an N64 game...

Story
6?/10
To be honest, you can't say its bad because it gets the story down to the basics of it, not adding in extra false crap like Budokai 2, but still not as fullfilling as the story telling of Budokai 1...you get to fight the main villains of the movies and from GT, but the stories of how they get to those fights aren't really there...even though its halfway told through crappy scene put togethers and King Kai's narrative...

Gameplay
6/10
To be honest, I really got used to and enjoyed Budokai 3's gameplay...I mastered it completely and their was nothing, human or computer, that could beat me...except my ex, but that's only because she wouldn't let me do any super attack that took more than 3 seconds to animate on the screen... >>; Moving on...

The gameplay is actually a lot like the GBA game Dragon Ball Z Supersonic Warriors, but imagine it being in 3D and a little bit more restrictive...in a 2-dimensional environment, this mode of gameplay was truly amazing, but, when it hits the PS2, you have a massive learning curve that you should master in about an hour or so of gameplay...you'll learn that all you really have to do is hit square a lot to win...oh, and circle to block all of the attacks...to be honest, that's all you really have to learn... >>;

You can do almost anything and destroy almost anything, but you can only do it in a restricted area and, to be honest, the fighting areas aren't that large...And you don't ever have a sense of being able to hide because an enemy is locked on to you through most of the fight and, unless you do something completely unorthodox, you won't really have a feel of freedom, but, then again, it is a "fighting" game...

Also, as you continue to play, you might find a way to win cheaply...by doing a quick attack combination followed by a punch+dash attack quickly, you can have an infinite combo...a friend of mine got up to 70 hits before time ran out in the fight against Kid Buu...

Sound
3/10
Only real plus is that you can now choose between japanese and english, but the japanese voices aren't really that good considering that hearing Goku yell can cause migranes so...

>>;

And they didn't even bother putting in new music...its been the same for almost 4 years now, Atari...you can find someone, ANYONE to compose new music, can't you...?

Replay Value
1/10
I say this because you'll finish the game in about a day; the two-player fight mode is the first splitscreen mode in a fighting game I've ever seen; they added a mode where you just fight characters randomly to get a #1 ranking and get good items, but its ultimatly pointless...

Final Score
5/10
As a DBZ game, its decent...fans shouldn't be disappointed, but it shouldn't try to pass itself off as a fighting game...that would be a disgrace...

Rent it... -_-;

Well, this game is better than Budokai 2, my worst purchasing decision of all time, but Budokai 1 and 3 are still better...

They were fighting games, but I don't consider this one to be a fighting game...I consider it to be a DBZ game, much like Supersonic Warriors for the GBA, which I enjoyed a lot...
