Last week i found out the list of what kind of physical test that were going to undergo.Im talking about me being a cop here.
Men will do 50 push ups,10 pull ups,50 sit ups,100 meter dash and 1000 meter run
Women will do 20 push ups, bar hang,30 sit ups and 100 meter dash.
Do you guys find this activity fair? Why do women never gets the equal physical fitness test just like us men? I find it confusing because laws and other femenist movement declare that women will recieve the equal treatment that we guys receive but what i can see here is that women does the lighter exercise. I dont have an issue regarding abput the physical capabilities of females but my only question is, does it exist? I mean the equality that theyr asking? Coz im seeing the word " discrimination" here.

Because women tend to keep themselves more fit than men do....?
or coz the superior officer hate a women that is too muscular
hehehe

Hehe, this is not only a "sexist" problem, this sort of discrimination is widespread. Minorities (I'm not saying here that women are a minority, I'm just talking about group of people who have been victim of discrimination) always want equal treatment, but if they can get away with a special dispention or something, they will. This is hypocritical oppoturnism, "I want to be the equal of the other guy but only when it suits me!"
On the other hand, I might be old schooled, and realize that women can be more delicate than men (yeah, I'm a machist misoginist bastard), but women are not built for strength they are built for endurence (they do bear our seed for 9 months and have to go through the pain of labour after all). That's the way it is; different yet equal in a way that men and women complement each other (think about it, neither gender would be able to survive without the other).

Biologically speaking, testosterone is responsible for muscles. Men have more testosterone than estrogen. And vice versa for women. With this being said, even though society paints women as weaker, from a biological standpoint, it has an explanation.
ok, you all got a point there when it comes to physical capabilities but what about oppurtunity? Are we receiving the same equal opportunity that women gets?

There has always been discrimination.
Like for example --
A man can accuse a lady of adultery if he sees/hears/whatevers his wife going out with another guy. That other guy can be guilty or not guilty. Proven or not, they can accuse adultery.
A woman can only accuse men of concubinage (adultery term for men) if SHE CAUGHTS HIM IN TEH ACT AND HAS FUCKIN' PICTURES AND EVERY SINGLE KIND OF TANGIBLE EVIDENCES.
See?
So what's wrong with heavier exercises?!

>_>;How in the world did this conversation turn from exercise into adultery? I seriously wonder how you folks think sometimes...
In any case... it's always been seen as men being more physical and women being more emotional. That being said, it's not always the case... it's just to norm.
Even if women nowadays do perform stuff normally reserved for men equally, if not better sometimes, the unfortunate perception is that women is the weaker sex when it comes to doing something that requires muscular strength. This is even more evident in third-world countries where women are basically labeled as being only good for housework and stuff. It's a sad thing in this world, but it's something we live with on a daily basis.
On the flipside of it all... do you know that in most suicides, about 2/3 of the suicide victims are men? And of these, more than half are in the 20s. It's simply because men in general are not very good at handling emotional stress. Women on the other hand can cope with this type of stress rather well. Not to say that they can overcome it themselves no problem. It's that women have a higher threshold when it comes to emotional pain. Men tend to be more reliant on what is physically there in front of them. If they feel pain, but can't really see where the pain is, they have trouble coping.
What I'm basically getting at is that no matter how equal folks want things to be, unless the stereotype is eliminated completely... there will always be this gender gap.

I agree with IdyotAko about women being better at handling emotional situations, even though they appear more sensitive to it, they have a better ability to cope with it.
I obviously do not support the negative stereotypes being conveyed about either of the sexes, including vast generalities. But, treating women as fragile flower could come from love and care for that person. Like my female coworkers at work, they always need me to undo a bolt holding the juicer together. I don't look down on them for it, but I say to myself, taking this bolt of the juicer is super easy, why do they need me to do it? But then I realize I don't mind doing it and I don't want them to hurt themselves (don't get the impression I'm labeling them as the weaker sex here...).
I guess I also look at it from a standpoint of role-models. As we all know a majority of us will be similar to our parents when we have a family of our own. When you think of your Mother, what are the first thoughts that come to mind? How about your father? Maybe these stereotypes are imprinted into us from a young age.
You're 3 years old, you fall and cut your finger. If you're a boy, oh - it's just a cut, let's clean it up, you'll be fine. If it's a girl, come here - are you okay? (I don't really know the girl side of it, but obviously what's said is more sweet, more nurturing, and as a the girl grows into women-hood and becomes a mother, she'll pass this to her daughter.
I hope this all makes sense to you all, these are just my opinions on the matter. I'm not sure if there is more than mere observation that can answer these questions.

Hey... Izzy.. you forgot? we're in the Philippines!
It's part of our culture man...
where women basically stay home and are noted to withstand all the muscle stuff
But that... is not for gender discrimination..
but a role... a purpose
and that would be our mothers...
(i take into point Fuse's pose above me)
Though this has been misunderstood by the years, do remember that women take in the most difficult that average men cannot handle... Raising Children
My mom might be weaker than my dad(physically)... but... seeing her taking care of me and my sister... going through all the sacrifices and hardships... I can say.. she's is way stronger than my dad...
though men... being proud all that Alpha Male...hmph<_<
See it another way... see it as a very blunt gender discrimination... heck i can make it to cave man language...
"you woman.. you take care spawns... me man! me hunt!!"
sees some big animal
"thingie so big!! run!!!"*poops as he runs*
...
well yeah you get the idea <_<

Here's another argument I just thought of about my "men built for strenght and women for endurence" theory; women do live longer than men *sobs*.
And, well… there's also the fact that women can have multiple orgasms during sex… (OK this is truly unfair!!).

He's right... and then we're mocked because we can't keep her occupied long enough to multi orgasm. Hasn't happened to me yet, but you see it all the time on TV and in the movies...

. But seriously guys, we have to shape up. For my part, when I bed with a new partner, I'm not affraid to ask for directions; she knows her own body better than I after all…
I don't know if I have the nerve to eat her out. However, I hear that women are able to orgasm easier under those conditions...
I guess I wonder if love is strong enough will you do repulsive things such as that to please your partner?

so that means equality for women really do not exist at all because we are living in a men world thus girls should walk the male walk and talk the male talk in order to cope up with the male counterpart. we all know that women cannot do all the male activities because of some genetical and emtional reasons so in that case, the thing called "equal treatment" is just a mask to hide that so called special treatment
You know guys! theres this thing in sports were guys cannot compete with women but women can compete with guys. Pretty confusing huh?!

Good! You're catching on! This is what we call a double standard.
"Women are weaker, more delicate, and need to be protected form the harsh realities of life, as for men, they are stronger and tougher, and thus are more apt at facing the hardships of life". This is an old preconception, perhaps as old as the world itself. women have made a lot of efforts for being considered the equal of men, but I'm afraid it will take yet more time and efforts before that old preconception is truly history.
So is it fair that the women's physical test for the academy is lighter than the men's? Yes… and no. Yes because it's true that men and women are different (men have strength, women have endurence). IMO, your academy should have probably put more emphasis on endurence for the women's test . No because women cop will have to face the same obstacles as their male counterparts once on the job (neutralize a perp for example), and if they aren't properly prepared, it puts themselves and their partners at risk.
