This one mostly concerns the Fillipino members of this forum. Last night I saw on the news that there was an agency in Manilla (sorry I don't remember it's name) which promissed Fillipino to help them get in Canada and find a job there. They could even speed up the process barring a little down payment… which is the equivalent of a person's lifesavings.
Well, turns out that it's all a big scam. Oh yes, a few Fillipino have actually came to Canada, but there is no jobs waiting for them there, and if they try to contact the agency to complain… it has mysteriously vanished…
So if you have friends and families who live in Manilla and have told you about their plan to move to Canada, warn them!
I have put this in Flames and Rants because it burns me to see unscrupulous bottom-feeding scums willing to take advantege of other people's myseries, hopes, and dreams to make a lot of mony off their back without regard for the consequences or the lives they've ruined (hey, I may be a megalomaniac, homicidal, psychotic hamster bent on world domination, but at least I don't screw people over!>
). Also the person behind all of this is a Canadian lawyer which gives Canada a bad rep in the Phillipines right now. Also, maybe you know someone who has been ripped-off by this scam and need to blow-off a little steam here…

Apparently, I have no plans of coming to Canada tho. I have a US Visa, and that's where I'm planning to go after I graduate (I hope you guys could be here to celebrate it with me on teh 21st of March). I will still have to do teh in-house review for Philippine Board Exams and hopefully I pass teh boards. Then I will get some experience in teh hospital, then off I go to teh land of dollars.
