Unless you've been living under a rock, you should know by now that the Democrats are trying to pass a bill that will force the US military to pull out of Iraq around mid 2008. Initially, they planned to cut funding to them to force them to pull back earlier, but they changed it and they ended up giving some funding instead in exchange for the pullout. The senate actually approved the bill but President Bush is intending to veto it as soon as it gets to him.
Now here's the thing about the situation. The military is doing a lot of good over in Iraq, which unfortunately takes a backseat to all the negative stuff that goes on, even if the negatives are fairly few and far between. A lot of military folks serving there feel like they are making a huge difference to the Iraqis.
So the question is... if US troops does end up pulling out earlier than what was planned, how would this affect both the US and Iraq and the war in general?
I'm military, so I'm not gonna respond to this question as I will have a bias about it. But what about you folks? What do you think?

I think it's a bad move at this point, simply because then our efforts up to this point would be purely in vein. I am personally a support of democrats. But I think this move is the wrong one.
This is of course taking into mind lots of good progress or things happening that never goes reported. News and the media only look to hype stuff up by including a lot of the bad, I know this personally with friends and relatives who have been in the paper, and they blew the whole thing out of proportion. They usually put a certain spin on things.
Now then, I do think the idea of going to war with terrorists was a good idea, because I don't like terrorists or their whole radical mindsets. However, knowing that terrorists hide themselves in these undergrounds, fighting said terrorists is a difficult process, where lack of knowledge has caused a good number of deaths. I also haven't mentioned my last point regarding this. Bush has been as tyrannical as Saddam throughout all of this. Argue as he may, he went with guns blazing after the attack on 9/11 - without the approval or support of the world. He could have handled this situation a lot more democratically, but he didn't. We therefore shouldn't be any surprise knowing that America is being hurt the worst out of all of this. Our people are dying out there for a free-er world. Will people appreciate it? Maybe with the hindsight, yes. But for now, all these events are drain on our morale, and things are only declining from there.
Final thought: I am grateful for our warriors whom protect us, and I have much respect to the level of sacrifice made so we can live carefree. Should we remove our troops from Iraq? Yes - if eventually there is a resolution, otherwise no. This of course is my opinion, and I definitely try to value the opinions of the people over there, and what in truest of hearts they think. I think those should be the people deciding this.
[startrant]Presidents should be generals, that when they declare war, they must taste blood as the rest of them. If he loves America so much, it should be he duty to head the infintry into battle. Just my $.02. Think of George Washington, great war general. Did he want to be president? Maybe. Why was he elected? Because he EARNED it. Did he campaign? NO.[/startrant] Actions speak louder than words, and 1+1=2; if you know what I mean.
