Are they really worth buying into?
Yeah some people find them cheap but for their price, is it worth it just to get a .com/.net/.org (most popular ones) for your site especially if it doesn't bring in any income to you whatsoever?

Dyne your response lacked value, therefore I think should be discarded as an answer to her question.
Now onto the question: Are domain names really worth it?
Well if you're receiving more than a few visitors yes. Sure, it's purely aesthetic. However, if someone doesn't like memorizing an extremely large URL or visits your page regularly, they would benefit from the simple, easy to remember domain name.
I personally think the URL is very important to any site. As you remember I enabled mod-rewrite rules on this site close to a year ago, the urls are easy to remember. ragnarokhq.com/forums/viewthread/953. This url is both logical and clean. Really the only part they need to remember if the ID number and the domain name, they probably could guess the forums and viewthread part if they needed to memorize it without writing it down.
Hope this information helps you!
