Yes but your damage gets halved instead.
Example:
You can deal 2000 damage with a dagger but only 1000 with a bow.
Example:

For a while it actually did 100% damage. Too bad it still doesn't 
Stay away from Backstab. It sucks now and forever...
Plus, if yer using Bow, your better of Intimidating Bowling Bash anyways... /ok
